Beer Battered Fried Cod
Alternative Ingredients are listed in Red
|2||8 oz||Filets Alaskan Pollock|
|1||cup||Yellow Corn Meal|
|1||16oz||Oatmeal Stout Beer|
|Your Favorite Beer|
|2||tbls||Local Natural Honey|
|1||tsp||Fresh Ground Black Pepper|
Set deep frier or dutch oven to 350º. A high temperature oil is best, such as Canola, Safflower or Grapeseed.
In a mixing bowl add all dry ingredients and combine. Add first the beer and then honey and whisk briskly to mix thoroughly.
(do not mix beer & honey until you are ready to fry)
Pat the filets dry! Dredge filet in mixture, let excess drip off, then gently drop - one filet at a time - into the fry oil.
Deep fry for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Let drain for a few minutes on paper towels or wire rack.
